Lockdown lifted at Durham College and UOIT

Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa are under lockdown after reports of an armed person on campus.

TORONTO –The lockdown at Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa has been lifted after reports of an armed person on campus.

Jodi MacLean, a spokesperson for Durham Regional Police, said officers were investigating after police received a report of an armed person shortly before 1 p.m.

In a Twitter message, Durham College told students and staff to “proceed to the nearest classroom, office or secure area immediately.”

The lockdown was lifted around 3 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.
