The provincial government is offering to replace the single-lane Bailey Bridge linking New Westminster with Coquitlam.

The bridge was shut down in February due to safety concerns.

Under the terms of the offer, New West would be expected to pay for the installation and maintenance of the temporary span.

It would also have to install a second bridge to allow for two-way traffic.
