OTTAWA – It’s an unemployment rate not seen in Saskatchewan in almost four decades.
Statistics Canada reported Friday the unemployment rate in the province for April was 3.4 per cent, a drop of 1.1 percentage points from the previous month

The agency said that is the lowest rate in the province since comparable data became available in 1976.
On the employment side, StatsCan said 3,000 more people were employed in Saskatchewan in April than the previous month.
On a year-over-year basis, 8,300 more people were working in the province than in April 2013, an increase of 1.5 per cent.
Nationally, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.9 per cent.
