KELOWNA, B.C. – UPDATE: 4:40 P.M. A motorcyclist escaped injury after his motorbike was struck by an SUV Thursday afternoon.
The crash took place in front of The Greenery on Rifle Road at the north end of Dilworth Drive in Kelowna.
Police say the man, said to be in his early 60’s, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Rifle Road when the SUV turned from the parking lot into traffic.
The bike and rider slid sideways for several meters after the crash. While it was thought he may have sustained broken bones, he was checked over at hospital and found to only have ‘road rash’.
The SUV driver is said to face a charge of failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
While the accident shut down traffic between Longhill Road and Dilworth Drive, the route has since reopened.
