More charges laid in fatal crash that killed two teens

SASKATOON – A 17-year-old female is facing additional charges after a fatal crash in Saskatoon Monday evening involving a stolen truck took the lives of two teens.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Monday after a stolen truck sped away from police and slammed into two vehicles at the intersection of 22nd Street West and Avenue M.

Two 17-year-old teens in one vehicle, Sarah Wensley and James Haughey, were killed in the crash.

A third teen, a 16-year-old female, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There are reports all three went to Bethlehem Catholic High School.

The youth, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing two charges of party to the offense of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while evading police causing death and a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while evading police causing bodily harm.

She is also charged with being party to the offence of criminal negligence causing death and party to the offence of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The driver of the stolen truck, Chrystal Cheyann Peeteetuce, is facing 14 charges including impaired driving causing death, flight causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and criminal negligence causing death.

Both the accused have previously been charged with vehicle theft and are scheduled to be back in court on Thursday.
