NEAR TAPPEN — It’s going to be a while yet before some evacuated residents in the Shuswap area are allowed to return to their homes.
Seven homes were evacuated following a mud-slide near McIntyre Creek on April 23.

The slide covered Sunnybrae-Canoe Point near Tappen with three metres of debris.
Officials say the hazard above the McIntyre Creek channel remains high and that the evacuation order for the seven homes will remain in effect for at least another 30 days, possibly up to 60 days.
