CALGARY- The second victim of a stabbing spree that left two women dead and a third injured has been identified.
An autopsy done on Tuesday determined that 36-year-old Sanjula Devi of Calgary died from the stabbing, which happened on Sunday evening in a home along Penbrooke Drive. It’s believed that she was the ex-wife of the suspect, and had been returning to the home to collect some belongings following a domestic dispute.
The other victim was previously identified as 29-year-old of Calgary, who was friends with Devi. On Tuesday, her devoted family spoke out about their loss.
“Everyone around her loved her, and we can see that from all the support we are getting from friends and family,” said husband Rahim Visram.
“I feel angry, but my anger is nothing that will bring her back.”
“She had the smile that could light up the world,” added her brother, Farouk Velji. “Every time I was feeling down, she would come to my house and give me a hug and all my worries went away.”
The suspect faces two counts of second-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault. Investigators have still not spoken with him, as he is in hospital recovering from self-inflicted injuries.
