Husband charged with wife’s murder in Richmond

Watch: Women’s groups demand action from province over escalating violence

UPDATE: 41-year-old Jian Hua Wu is charged with second degree murder in connection with his wife’s death on Sunday. 

Wu and his wife were residing at the apartment complex on Granville Avenue, where the incident took place.

Investigators say alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this incident.

Police records did not show a history of violence.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Richmond RCMP and Metro Vancouver’s homicide team are investigating after a woman was allegedly murdered in an apparent domestic dispute, according to Mounties.

According to IHIT, the homicide occurred in an apartment building in the 7000-block of Granville Avenue, near Gilbert Road.

RCMP said officers found the body of a woman inside an apartment at around 2 p.m.

A male, who knew the victim, was arrested at the apartment building in relation to the murder, RCMP said in a release.

RCMP said preliminary information suggests the death may be related to a domestic violence situation.

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation and we are working to establish what happened inside the apartment. We are asking anyone that may have heard anything or has other information to contact the IHIT Tipline.” said Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau.

Investigators were at the scene Sunday night and into Monday.
