Mississauga man killed in QEW crash, 4 others injured

Watch above: Police continue to investigate a four-car crash on the QEW May 4.

TORONTO – A 30-year-old man is dead and four others are in hospital after a crash on the QEW in Mississauga on Sunday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say four vehicles – including one belonging to the ministry of transportation -collided  around 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the QEW near Dixie Road.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the accident happened after a white van collided with three different vehicles. The passenger of the van was killed after being ejected from the vehicle, while the 25-year-old driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Sgt. Schmidt said the van crashed into a parked MTO truck that was protecting a car that had broken down in live lane.

Debris from the accident could be seen scattered across the road.

The QEW’s eastbound lanes are closed in the area while police investigate.

Police are urging drivers to avoid the area because of traffic delays as the closure is expected to last for several hours.
