Charges laid in violent sexual assaults of two Surrey sex workers

Surrey RCMP say charges have now been laid against three men in relation to two violent sexual assaults on sex trade workers.

Police say 17 charges have been laid against three suspects:

  • Simranpreet Singh Dhillon: Sexual assault with weapon x 2; Possession weapon dangerous purpose/commit offence x 2; Utter threats death/bodily harm x 2; Unlawful confinement x 2; Robbery x 2; Aggravated sexual assault
  • Sukhraj Singh Chahal: Sexual assault with weapon; Unlawful confinement; Robbery
  • Gurjinder Sodha: Sexual assault with weapon; Unlawful confinement; Robbery

Police allege that in both of the incidents, the victims were picked up by men who were unknown to them, and then driven to secluded areas where they were physically and sexually assaulted.

On August 12, 2012, a female sex trade worker was picked up by two strangers near King George Blvd. and 91 Avenue. She was driven to Colebrook Road where she was violently physically and sexually assaulted.

On October 18, 2012, a second female sex trader worker was picked up by two men unknown to her near King George Blvd. and 105 Avenue. She was also driven to a secluded area on Colebrook Road and violently assaulted, physically and sexually. The victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to hospital where she “endured a lengthy recovery.”

Police say there may be more victims. They are asking anyone with more information to call the Surrey RCMP Child Abuse & Sexual Offence (CASO) Unit at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if they wish to remain anonymous.
