You’ve heard of BYOB, but what about BYOW?

The Colorado Symphony, currently struggling with dwindling attendance numbers and budget cuts has come up with a new way to raise some green.

Classically Cannabis: The High Note Series is a series of special summer concerts that will feature performances by the symphony at private venues in Denver. Although no marijuana will be sold at the events, listeners are encouraged to bring their own. The event will also offer munchies for those with a hankering.

The events are being sponsored by the state’s newly established marijuana industry.

In a statement to 7News, a local Denver station, CEO Jerome Kern shared “This partnership is part of an overall effort to reach out to every segment of our community.”

Kern is hoping to attract a younger audience and had this to say about partnering with the weed industry.

“These businesses have expressed a willingness to support the Colorado Symphony’s mission. Our doors are open to any legal, legitimate business that wants to help.”

Organizers have said the event will comply with all state laws and is being promoted as a 21+ event.

Colorado became one of two states in the U.S. to legalize marijuana for recreational use in 2012. Under state law, people 21 and over can use the drug in private, possess up to one ounce of weed, and grow up to six marijuana plants.
