Motorcyclist killed in crash west of Edmonton; B.C. man charged with impaired driving

EDMONTON – One man is dead after a collision between a pick up truck and a motorcycle.

It happened Tuesday night around 10 p.m. on Highway 16 eastbound at the junction with 16-A, roughly 10 kilometres west of Stony Plain.

The motorcycle driver, a 53-year-old man from Edmonton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP have charged the 20-year-old driver of the pick-up truck, Kevin Andrew Shelley of Quesnel, B.C., with: impaired driving causing death, and operation of a motor vehicle while over .08 causing death.

Shelley was released on a $10,000 no-cash bail. His conditions include not operating a motor vehicle, and not consuming any alcohol or non-prescription drugs.

The 20-year-old’s first court appearance is scheduled to be in Stony Plain on May 7.
