VERNON — Vernon RCMP are issuing a warning to parents following the seizure of some soft and hard drugs at a weekend bush party.
The party was being held near Becker Lake off Highway 6 last Saturday.
Police set up a roadblock where they seized a backpack full of drugs including 200 grams of pot and six grams of crystal meth.
A 19-year-old Vernon man is facing drug charges.
RCMP say the seizure should serve as a wake-up call for parents.
“These parties are not a small innocent group of teens going out and having a good time,” says Vernon RCMP spokesmanGord Molendyk.
“They are not controlled by any stretch of the imagination. There is a chance your teenage children are going to face individuals that plan to take advantage of them with drugs and alcohol. For the young women attending these events it could even be worse, with sexual assault a possibility.”
