Fraser Health has declared a measles outbreak in the Fraser Valley over.

Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Paul Van Buynder says the number of transmissions and new cases has been reduced drastically.

Van Buynder said the outbreak was the largest in 30 years.

In a four week period, the Fraser region recorded over 400 cases of measles with some patients requiring hospitalization.

Health officials recommend all children get immunized against measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
