VANCOUVER – Two men in their 20s are safe this morning after running into trouble while hiking to the top of Okanagan Mountain Park over the weekend.
The men became stranded after running into a series of snowstorms on Saturday. Teams from Central Okanagan Search and Rescue spent more than four hours trying to reach the pair, who were ultimately found early Sunday morning.
Rescue crews say it’s another reminder to be prepared for all types of weather conditions.
“They were smart, they had got rid of their wet clothes, they had climbed into their tent, they were in their sleeping bags, they were trying to get warm,” said Duane Tresnich from Central Okanagan Search and Rescue. “So they were taking all the right precautions, they did the right thing by calling, and we went up and got them.”
