Surrey RCMP are investigating after an officer-involved shooting near Gateway SkyTrain station Sunday afternoon.
Transit police say an officer shot at a man inside a vehicle at around 4 p.m., but no one was injured during the incident.
The vehicle then fled the scene and the man is still at large, according to police.
The area surrounding 108 Avenue and University Drive was shut down as police officers investigate the scene.
A motive for the shooting was not released.
RCMP’s Major Crime Section is now investigating the case.
“Two transit police members were on patrol in the area. They ended up engaging in an altercation with a male just north of the SkyTrain station, and as a result of that altercation, shots were fired by the Transit Police,” said Insp. Jeff Metcalfe with Surrey RCMP.
“Surrey RCMP was called to assist. The person that they had been involved with has fled the scene.”
