KELOWNA — A Kelowna woman is adding to her medal collection after winning her age category in last weekend’s Boston Marathon.
Liz Borrett, 75, ran her way to a four hour, 22 minute chip time, more than 30 minutes faster than the next finisher in her age group.
“I just feel very fortunate to do what I’m doing, it’s an outlet that’s given me lots of opportunity to have purpose and goals and lots of friendships,” says Borrett.
She’s been running for 11 years, taking up the grueling marathon training regime at the age of 64.
Borrett quickly hit her stride completing six full marathons and almost 40 half marathons since she’s taken home trophies in nearly all of them including last years’ Boston Marathon where she placed second in her age category.
