CALGARY- A longtime problem home in the community of Forest Lawn has been shut down, following an investigation by Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT).

An investigation began into the home in the 2000 block of 41 St. S.E. back in September 2012, after numerous calls to the police concerning disturbances. Investigators say they witnessed activity consistent with drugs and prostitution, and applied for a Community Safer Order to close down the house.

On Tuesday morning, an ALERT team vacated the duplex, changed the locks and boarded up the doors and windows. The Community Safer Order is in effect for 90 days, and officials say the method has proven effective in breaking the cycle of bad behaviour.

Those who suspect illegal activity at a property in their neighbourhood are asked to call 1-866-960-SCAN or go to www.alert-ab.ca/scan.
