SASKATOON – The newest Co-op food store in Saskatoon will open next month.

In February, Co-op announced it had purchased the Safeway store located at The Centre from Sobeys as part of Sobeys buyout of Safeway.

Sobeys was ordered by the Competition Bureau to sell the store as part of the deal.

Co-op announced on Monday the store at The Centre will open under its banner on Wednesday, May 14.

It is expected the store will be closed for one to two days to make the transition.

The pharmacy at the store will remain open during the transition and Co-op says there will be no downtime in filling prescriptions.

Co-op also stated the pharmacy team will remain at the store along with prescription histories.
