TORONTO – An abandoned and injured puppy was found inside a dumpster in Etobicoke over the long weekend.
The male puppy was found Saturday afternoon near a backpack and a dresser drawer by one of the Kingston Road Animal Hospital veterinary technicians. She was walking her dog at the time and heard the dog crying from within the dumpster.
Toronto Animal Services is now involved.
The puppy was found with a severed nose and tail and was suffering from roundworms. He’s also tested positive for Parvovirus, a high contagious and often fatal condition that spreads through contact with dog feces.
The dog is currently receiving treatment at Vets Toronto and has started to eat again but officials from the hospital note the virus is extremely hard on dogs, vaccinated or not.
