VANCOUVER – A B.C. judge fears for the public’s safety should a random attacker ever be released from custody.
Mohamed Amer has been found not criminally responsible for stabbing a 71-year-old man in the chest inside a Waves coffee shop in downtown Vancouver two years ago.
But a provincial court judge says Amer poses “a significant threat to public safety” and he has grave reservations about Amer ever getting released.
On Monday a court heard Amer was obsessed with the devil when he attacked the random victim in February 2012.
He has now been detained at a psychiatric facility.
