Farewell Spamalot

April 21, 2014. We finished the run of Monty Python’s Spamalot on Easter Sunday. I had a very small part but it gave me the opportunity to watch some amazing performances while I was off stage. There was an incredible amount of work that went into this production and since this is primarily an amateur troupe one has to admire the dedication of everyone involved whether it be on stage or off. It was fun to hear the audience laugh every night and the sponaneous standing ovations make all those hours of rehearsals worth it. It could be a couple of weeks before I totally stop using my fake English accent.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to talk to Canadian country singing star Dallas Smith and Tyler Hubbard & Brian Kelley from Florida Georgia Line. Since I am of a generation that remembers the name Dallas Smith as a defencemen who played with Bobby Orr on the Boston Bruins I had to ask about Dallas about it. He says he was actually named after him which I thought was cool. Florida Georgia Line has to be about the hottest country act in the business right now and they were fun to talk to even though they declined to help me with my traditional request to sing “I’m A Little Teapot.” They love playing in Canada despite this unusually cold spring. They’ll soo be in Hawaii to peform there. I told them I heard it was going to snow in Hawaii. They didn’t buy it.

I ran into promoter guru Ron Sakamoto at the concert. He’s been on the road with this show but he wanted everyone in Lethbridge to know that this is the only place in Alberta that superstar group Rascall Flatts is playing. The show goes June 27 so get your tickets.
