Drunk driving charge laid after woman struck by minivan

SASKATOON – RCMP have laid a charges after a minivan collided with a woman around three kilometres north of Martensville, Saskatchewan on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 6:45 p.m.

Mounties say the woman was travelling southbound on Highway 12, when her car slid into the west ditch.

A passing motorist in a truck pulled over and walked into the ditch to offer assistance.

Meanwhile, a southbound minivan on Highway 12 came across the scene.

The minivan slid and clipped the rear passenger side of the truck, entered the ditch and struck the woman.

The 40-year-old woman was taken to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon with serious injuries.

Her condition has been upgraded to stable.

RCMP tells Global News the female driver of the minivan has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm. Her name is not known at this time.

Road conditions were also described as very poor at the time of the collision.
