What’s open, closed in Winnipeg for the Easter long weekend

WINNIPEG – Long weekend! But what is there to do? Besides the traditional Easter egg hunts and ham dinners at home, that is.

Many businesses and public offices will be closed for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and some will remain closed Monday.

Schools, leisure centres (except for frozen pipe rescource centres), Polo Park, St. Vital Centre, Kildonan Place, Grant Park Shopping Centre, Portage Place, liquor stores and government offices will be closed Friday. The malls will also be closed on Sunday.

But don’t forget to put the garbage out if your regular collection day is Friday – trash and recycling will be picked up on the normal schedule.

Winnipeg Transit will operate on a holiday/Sunday schedule on Friday.

Leisure centres and municipal offices in Winnipeg will also be closed on Monday.

Canada Post won’t deliver or collect mail on Friday and Monday.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Winnipeg will host a 1.5-kilometre Good Friday Public Way of the Cross procession starting at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave., at 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday services will be held at various times at churches across the city.
