OYAMA – A man has now been charged after police found bomb making equipment in an Oyama home.
Acting on a tip last August, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit raided the residence and found modified timers, igniters, gunpowder and small wooden boxes fitted with wiring.
Two semi-automatic, assault style rifles with over capacity magazines and brass knuckles were also seized.
At the time, the CFSEU said the investigation involved possible gang related criminal activity.
John Jason Newueld, 36, of Oyama is charged with possessing an explosive substance, a crossbow and ammunition while prohibited.
He next appears in court on April 28.
