Downtown Eastside activists protest hotel renovictions

Activists are set to gather in the Downtown Eastside later this morning to protest so-called ‘renovictions’ at two single room occupancy hotels.

They say people are being unfairly pushed out by the landlord, so that he can bring in tenants capable of paying higher rents.

They claim the same landlord has used the “renoviction” tactic a number of times before.
