Thursday April 17th on The Morning News:

A new program that aims to prevent gang and gun violence is being rolled out in the Halifax area. The Ceasefire program brings outreach workers, community and faith leaders, police and public agencies together to reduce gun violence. At 6:45 Crystal will talk with the local coordinator about how the program will work and how it will help curb violence in the city.

It’s an event that’s still very fresh in the minds of many, especially in Halifax. This week marked the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. At 7:15 Paul will talk with Wade Keller. He was in the crowd one year ago, running his dream race. But the bombings prevented him from finishing the race. And this weekend he returns to Boston to try again.

Camp Brigadoon has a couple of exciting fundraisers coming up: Blue Tie Bingo and the Bluenose Marathon’s “Charity Challenge”. At 7:45 Paul will talk with one of the top fundraisers for the challenge, ten year old Cameron Brown!
