Edmonton couple, in B.C. to attend wedding, robbed at gunpoint

VANCOUVER – An Edmonton couple staying in North Vancouver to attend a wedding got the shock of their lives this past weekend when they were robbed at gunpoint in their hotel.

RCMP say in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 12, three men entered the hotel room of the couple and robbed them at gunpoint using violence and threats to steal cell phones, wallets, cash, jewelry and an iPad. The man also suffered some head injuries.

Police are not releasing the name of the hotel where the couple was staying.

During the investigation police and the victims were able to identify the main suspect through a picture on Facebook.

The suspect, who used an alias name, was known only to the victims as a friend of a mutual friend.

On Sunday police executed a search warrant at a North Vancouver home and arrested three men with the assistance of the Lower Mainland ERT team. They were also able to recover the stolen property, drugs and a handgun.

All three men are well known to police and were taken into custody. Twenty-six-year-old Liban Robleh of North Vancouver was charged with three counts of firearms offences. He appeared in court and was held in custody until April 17. Police say additional criminal charges are expected.
