A 38-year-old man has been arrested after a 10-hour standoff with Vancouver police.

The man barricaded himself inside a home near East 60 Avenue and Ross Street Tuesday afternoon and refused to come out.

Police say they were called to the house after concerns over the man’s mental health and allegations he threatened to harm himself and possibly others.

After many hours of negotiation, a warrant was obtained to enter the home and the man was taken into custody without incident. Police say no weapons were involved.

The suspect’s identity is not being released. Police would only say he is known to the home owner.

Charges and a psychiatric evaluation have been requested.
