EDMONTON – Some of the largest creatures ever to roam the planet will be back in Edmonton this fall for ‘Walking with Dinosaurs.’
The theatrical event – which includes 20 life-sized dinosaurs – will take viewers back 100 million years, to travel through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
Monday morning, a baby T-Rex was roaming around City Hall to preview the show. The life-sized dino put on quite the show for a group of school children, and Mayor Don Iveson.
“That was pretty thrilling. They’re something when you get up close to them, actually. My heart jumped out of my chest,” Iveson said.

Walking with Dinosaurs will play at Rexall Place nine times between Sept. 24 and 28.
Iveson hopes the show will draw in people from across northern Alberta, in hopes they also spend a bit of time in the city.
“These things are a good economic driver. But they’re going to be a lot of fun for the whole family, I think too.”
“I don’t think the fascination with dinosaurs will ever go away,” added Rimmer. “We’ll always have it because none of us were there to have experienced it. And to read about it in the books or go to exhibits, you just can’t grasp or understand what it would have been like to be in the presence of real, live dinosaurs.”
