TORONTO – Two murder suspects charged in the weekend shooting death of a Toronto mother of four are scheduled to appear in court today.
Michael Davani, 21, and Al Bigby, 23 were both charged with first degree murder yesterday.
Davani appeared in court shortly before noon Monday. He’s expected to appear in court again on May 6.
Bigby, a former NCAA basketball player, appeared in court Monday and was remanded into custody. He’s scheduled to appear again, via video link, April 22.
Tammy Wilkinson, the cousin of Andrea White, said she was a “pillar of the community” and was “always putting others before herself.”
“To the people that committed this crime, for every action there is a reaction. Your actions have left Andrea’s children, ages 6, 9, 14 and 16 without their mother,” Wilkinson said.
Police say Andrea White, 33, was in her garage on Saturday night when a white Range Rover pulled up and shots were fired from the passenger side window of the vehicle.
White was helped back inside her home, but died there of her wounds.
Hours later, provincial police spotted the SUV on Highway 401 and arrested one suspect after a short foot chase. The second suspect turned himself in.
Police say they don’t believe White’s home was picked at random, but aren’t speculating on a possible motive.
