LONDON – London Marathon organizers say a 42-year-old man died after crossing the finish line in Sunday’s race.

A statement from organizers said that “although immediate medical attention was provided to the casualty, the fatality was confirmed on his arrival at hospital” and no further information would be made public out of concern for his family.

Sunday’s race had a reported 36,000 runners, with the event ranging from elite-level runners to fun-runners and others taking part to raise money for charities.
