Avalanche near Golden, B.C. claims life of female skier

A female skier has died after an avalanche on the Gothics Glacier above Fairy Meadows near Golden, B.C., search and rescue officials confirm.

Golden and District Search and Rescue said they found a woman after the avalanche came down Friday at around 3:15 p.m.

The woman, who is reportedly from the U.S., was flown to a hospital in Golden and then later transferred to Calgary where she succumbed to her injuries.

The victim’s identity has not been released.
