TORONTO – A woman in Rio De Janeiro became a key part in a local news story about high crime rates when her necklace was ripped off her neck as she gave a TV interview.

She was reportedly complaining about the lack of police when a thief tried to steal her necklace.
He didn’t succeed in stealing the necklace, but he did break the gold chain that hung from her neck before running into the busy street.
Microphone-in-hand, the RJTV reporter who was interviewing the woman ran after the thief, but wasn’t able to catch him.
