Saskatchewan man charged for neglecting 800 farm animals

BENGOUGH, Sask. – RCMP have charged a man after 800 farm animals were seized 30 kilometres north of Bengough, Saskatchewan.

In February, the Saskatchewan SPCA received a complaint over concerns the animals were receiving inadequate care in the rural municipality of Key West.

On April 1, the agency seized over 800 sheep and four dogs from the farm.

Mounties have charged Jian Min Liu, 39, as part of the investigation.

Liu has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to sheep, failure to provide adequate food and shelter for sheep and willfully causing sheep to be in distress.

The Moose Jaw man will appear in Assiniboia provincial court on June 12.
