Edmonton man stabbed in Saskatoon charged with drug trafficking

SASKATOON – An Edmonton man who was stabbed in a Saskatoon hotel parking lot over the weekend has been charged with drug trafficking by police.

On Sunday, police were investigating an aggravated assault in the 1700-block of Idylwyld Drive North.

A 34-year-old Edmonton man was found in critical condition but is now recovering from his injuries in hospital.

At the time of the stabbing, he was in possession of 17 grams of cocaine, $1,000 cash and pre-paid credit cards.

The Alberta man is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and proceeds of crime. His name has not been released.

He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on May 13.

Police say he has been uncooperative with the investigation.

During the investigation, a 25-year-old Saskatoon man was arrested. He is not facing any offences for the assault but is charged with possession of cocaine and a breach of conditions.
