Saskatoon Fire Department deals with two overnight blazes

SASKATOON – Two separate fires in Saskatoon kept fire crews busy early Wednesday morning.

The first call came in at 2:53 a.m. for a structure fire in the alley of the 200-block of Avenue W South.

Crews arrived to find a garage fully involved. The blaze was brought under control in eight minutes.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.

One minute after the first call, firefighters were called to a house fire at 512 Landsdowne Ave.

Fire crews arrived to find flames coming from the rear of a two-story home.

The residents were able to get out after being alerted by smoke detectors.

It took about 10 minutes for crews to bring the fire under control.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.

The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
