KELOWNA — As the temperature continues to rise in the Okanagan, boaters are gearing up for the upcoming season, except for one.
The owner of a 26 foot open-bow boat is looking at a hefty salvage bill after his craft sank Tuesday while docked at the Kelowna Yacht Club.
The only think preventing the boat from sinking to the bottom of Okanagan Lake were the dock cleats.
The boat was put into the water about a week ago. Why it took on water is not clear.
The Kelowna Fire Department was called out to prevent any gas or oil from polluting the lake. So far, there were no noticeable leaks.
Officials at the Kelowna Yacht Club say the owner will have to call in divers to hook up the boat and pull it out of the water with a crane.
