Global teams up with TSN to deliver live coverage of The Masters

TORONTO – For the second year in a row, Global is teaming up with TSN to deliver complete coverage of The Masters live from Augusta National.

Along with all four rounds of the tournament being broadcast live, there is a slew of specials planned, including bonus digital coverage, preview shows, highlight shows, and encore broadcasts of all the rounds. TSN and ESPN Classics will also be airing Masters Official Films, which feature some of the best moments from past tournaments.

The all-star team covering The Masters include Global’s Kevin Smith, SPORTSCENTRE’s Cory Woron, and analysts Bob Weeks and Jim Nelford. Globalnews.ca has original content from award-winning golf writer and best-selling author Robert Thompson.

Competing for the Green Jacket for the first time is Canada’s top golfer Graham DeLaet. DeLaet who hails from Weyburn, Sask., has been playing some of the best golf on the planet. Ranked 30th in the world, he already has five top 10s, two 2nd place finishes and is 17th in the FedEx cup standings.

“I knew I was getting in, but when I received [the invite] it brought tears to my eyes,” DeLaet said about being invited to play at The Masters.

Joining DeLaet is fellow Canadian Mike Weir, who became the first Canadian to win at The Masters in 2003. Weir has struggled with injuries and a troublesome swing of late, and while he once resided in the Top 10 in the world – he’s now 690th in the official world golf rankings.

The two Canadians will be competing against three-time Green Jacket winner Phil Mickelson, defending champion Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, and Sergio Garcia.

Live coverage of The Masters begins Wednesday, April 9 at 3 p.m. ET with the Par 3 Contest on TSN. The first and second rounds air on TSN Thursday, April 10 at 3 p.m. ET and Friday, April 11 at 3 p.m. ET. The third and fourth rounds air on Global Saturday, April 12 at 3 p.m. ET and Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m. ET.
