Meet the candidates in LaFontaine’s election race

There are seven candidates running in the riding:

Quebec Liberal Party: Marc Tanguay

Parti Quebecois: Mathieu Pelletier

Coalition Avenir Quebec: Julie Di Battista Manseau

Quebec Solidaire: Véronique Martineau

Option Nationale: Geneviève Dao Phan

Green Party of Quebec: Benoit Drouin

Parti marxiste-léniniste du Québec: Yves Le Seigle

Find out more about the riding

LaFontaine has voted Liberal since 1985. Prior to that, the riding swung between the Parti Quebecois and Union Nationale. Former Quebec Liberal Party MNA Tony Tomassi held the seat from 2003-2012 until he was kicked out of the party in 2010 after corruption allegations. He now faces criminal charges and he resigned his seat in 2012.

2012 voter turnout: 71.31%

1995 referendum vote: Yes: 29.9%; No: 71.1%

On April 7, 2014, polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find your local polling station, click here.

You must be entered on the Quebec list of electors in order to vote. When heading to the poll station, remember to bring either your driver’s licence, health insurance card, Canadian passport, Treaty status card or Canadian Forces ID.
