Meet the candidates in Nelligan’s election race

There are six candidates running in the riding:

Quebec Liberal Party: Martin Coiteux

Parti Quebecois: Louis-David Bénard

Coalition Avenir Quebec: Albert Bitton

Liberal candidate Martin Coiteux is replacing Yolande James, who retired from politics earlier in the year.

Nelligan has been a Liberal stronghold since its creation in 1981. It is one of the largest provincial ridings and though there are more francophones than anglophones, the riding is highly anti-separatist.

Population: 80,510

Electors: 56,909

2012 voter turnout: 73.21%

1995 referendum vote: Yes: 18.2%; No: 81.8%

On April 7, 2014, polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find your local polling station, click here.

You must be entered on the Quebec list of electors in order to vote. When heading to the poll station, remember to bring either your driver’s licence, health insurance card, Canadian passport, Treaty status card or Canadian Forces ID.
