PENTICTON, B.C. – A 600 home development was launched today on the Penticton Indian Band (PIB), a project that is expected to provide an economic boost to local First Nations members.
The community has partnered with Greyback Developments to launch the $250 million dollar residential, golf course and winery development overlooking Skaha Lake.
The homes in the Skaha Hills gated community will sell for about $400,000 and be single family homes with double garages.
The master plan also has plans for a casino, although the PIB was turned down already for a casino licence.
Skaha Hills will bring taxation revenue, employment and training opportunities to PIB members, according to band administrator Greg Gabriel.
A $5.2 million winery and vineyard will be developed among the homes at the 550-acre site.
The Skaha Hills Discovery Centre opened Friday and will be open Monday through Saturday.
