SALMON ARM — A senior from the Salmon Arm area is facing serious charges after being arrested Monday in the parking lot of the Sorrento fire hall.
The man was taken into custody following reports of a suspicious vehicle, a pick-up truck, parked at the fire hall late Monday night.
The driver tried to leave the area but was boxed in by two RCMP vehicles.
Police say the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Investigators say they also found a laptop computer on the passenger seat, containing child pornography web sites.
They say the man had been accessing the web by using the fire hall’s Internet connection.
The suspect, 77-year-old Charles Gleave of Notch Hill, has been charged with possession of child pornography.
He will appearing in Salmon Arm court April 29.
