Two people taken to hospital following Red Deer house fire

EDMONTON – Two people were injured and a pet dog was killed in a house fire in Red Deer Sunday evening.

Red Deer Emergency Services responded to the fire in Riverside Meadows just after 7 p.m. Sunday.

Crews arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the home.

There were four people inside at the time. Two people were not injured, but two others were taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital with injuries. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

The family dog died as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews noted the smoke alarms were not working at the time.
