LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. – Flames on a neighbours hedge prompted a call to 911, which likely saved the house from becoming involved in the blaze, according to fire fighters.
The Lake Country Fire Department was called to Read Road just after 9 A.M. Monday to douse the flames.
A row of cedar hedges were on fire next to the home and threatened to travel into a large cedar tree immediately adjacent to the house.
The cause of the blaze appears to be electrical in nature and has been linked to an extension cord found to be melted at the base of the cedar hedge.
The homeowner was not at home at the time of the fire.
