The man charged in a brutal assault on the owner of a tattoo parlour has now been charged with another assault that took place a few days earlier.

Vancouver police say the man was able to be identified in the earlier assault after images were released of an attack on the owner of the Looks Wow Tattoo Parlour in International Village Mall.

That assault, where a man threw the store owner to the ground and kicked her, took place on March 24.

On Thursday, March 20, around 5 p.m. police say the same man walked into the Millenium Clothing Store at Granville and Davie Street.

An employee behind the counter recognized the man as a suspect in a theft from the Gastown Tattoo Parlour, located at East Cordova and Abbott Street, which took place on March 16.

The employee approached the man and asked him to leave the store. Police say the man then allegedly responded by threatening the employee and punching him in the face.

The suspect left the store and the victim called police. He then made his way to a local hospital where he received stitches to close a gash on his chin.

Police began to look for the attacker when the suspect was identified following images released from the Looks Wow Tattoo Parlour assault.

Around 6 a.m. Friday morning, 31-year-old Byron Thomas Hobbs was arrested for one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of uttering threats. Hobbs remains in police custody pending a future court appearance that has yet to be determined.

When Hobbs appeared in court in relation to the Looks Wow assault, he asked to have a lawyer, so his case has been put over until April 2.

The investigation into the alleged March 16 theft from the Gastown Tattoo Parlour remains ongoing.
