WINNIPEG – Classes were cancelled for the day at a Winnipeg university while police investigated a suspicious package which turned out to be harmless.
Police and fire crews were at the 200 block of de la Cathedrale Avenue in St. Boniface Wednesday morning. The police bomb squad was also at the scene at the Universite de St. Boniface.
Experts used an x-ray machine to carefully examine an unattended back pack, and eventually found it contained an industrial drill.
Police say it had been left there by a man who was not a student who entered the building earlier in the day and was asked to leave by security.
Officers are still trying to track the man down.
