Calgary weather: spring snowfall continues all week

CALGARY – We’re a week into spring but snow remains in the forecast for at least another few days.

Snow began to fall on Wednesday morning, limiting visibility for some commuters as they drove to work and leaving city streets wet and slushy.

Meteorologist Jordan Witzel anticipates the precipitation will continue for the rest of the week, with a total of six to 12 cm by Friday.

Unfortunately, it’s much of the same for the weekend – with more snow predicted on Saturday and Sunday.

The City of Calgary says crews have been out in full force since Tuesday evening, working to clear trouble spots like bridge decks, hills and on off ramps.

Calgary’s seven day weather forecast

In the mountains, areas such as Banff, Jasper National Park, Kananaskis and Canmore are under a snowfall warning, with 10 to 15 cm of snow expected by Thursday morning.

Environment Canada has also issued a snowfall warning for Red Deer, and road reports website Alberta 511 lists the QEII Highway between Calgary and Edmonton as partly covered in snow and ice.
