Paperwork is being finalized for the sale of Poets Cove Resort and Spa on South Pender Island, CBRE Canada confirms.
The 14-acre resort, which includes an 85-slip marina, restaurant, spa and store, overlooks Bedwell Harbour and is a popular Gulf Island stop for tourists and boaters.
CBRE Canada, who listed the resort for sale in September, said an offer on the property is being finalized.
However, CBRE would not comment on rumours the offer was made by Adestra Hotel Group, the company that also purchased Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa for $32.3 million last year.
Due to the ownership structure that includes third-party quarter-share owners, nine villas and 15 cottages are not included in the sale.
Poets Cove Resort and Spa was completed in 2004 at an estimated value of $30 million after the former Bedwell Harbour Island Resort and Marina was bought two years before.
Since then, the resort has been plagued with conflict between owners, according to court documents.
In 2012, the quarter-share owners took Bedwell Harbour Hotel Ltd., who owns the rest of the resort, to court over a dispute concerning voting rights.
Last year, the resort shut its doors in October for the first seasonal closure in its history, resulting in dozens of staff being laid off.
If the sale is finalized, the resort is set to be open in April and will operate year-round under the new ownership.
