HALIFAX – Although spring has officially begun, Environment Canada is warning of a possible significant winter storm this week.

The national weather forecaster has issued special weather statements for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

The statement says a very intense low pressure system is expected to track over Nova Scotia on Wednesday.

It says significant snowfall and strong winds are likely.
